The Cultural Revolution

The Cultural Revolution was a struggle beween The People's republic of China was a struggle for power within the communist Party of china which eventually split up into large sections of chinese society, which caused a civil war. The war was launched on May 16, 1966 by Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong was the chairman of the communist party told the people that could work hard for three years, the would surpass the west world (Great Britain and America). Even after ten years this still didn't happen. The counter-revolutions were against, inellect (scholarly), money, self-interest, basically anythin that the peasants could have. They were trying to rid of the old and bring in the new. The formed the Red Guards, which was a young militia taught to get rid of the old. hese things were culture, religion, etc. The Gang of four, led by Mao Zedong's wife, organized this group. Eventually this movement died out when the gang of four were arrested, but it still had become large enough to effect an entire generation because it lasted a decade.
